2026 Summer Intern Spotlight

Strayos is proud to introduce… Shang Jiang!

Shang joins us from Washington University in St. Louis from the Olin Business School where he studies finance and economics.

A St. Louis native himself, Shang was able to stay in St. Louis for the summer and work with the office here. He is a wonderful person, and we are happy that Shang joined us this summer as a Finance and Operations Intern with the 2026 Summer Intern class.

We sat down with Shang to ask him a few questions about him and why he chose Strayos.

What inspired you to study what you are studying?

I became interested in finance because I was drawn to the connection between understanding how the world works and making decisions within it. Economics offers a theoretical framework for explaining market behavior, incentives, and resource allocation, while finance provides the tools to analyze opportunities, manage uncertainty, and create value. I found finance compelling because it turns abstract ideas about markets and decision-making into practical strategies that can shape businesses and investments.

What interested you about Strayos? Why did you apply?

What interested me about Strayos is its ability to leverage AI and data analytics to transform a traditionally complex and capital-intensive industry. I was excited for the opportunity to work closely within a team that provides critical software for the largest industrial companies in the world. Strayos was a place where I could explore how technology-driven companies build scalable business models, create long-term value, and position themselves for growth in evolving industries.

What do you want to do in the future?

In the future, I hope to build a career focused on understanding businesses, industries, and markets while contributing to decisions that create long-term value. I’m excited to continue developing my analytical skills and gaining exposure to opportunities where I can evaluate companies and support meaningful growth.

How do you see your time at Strayos contributing to your plans? What do you hope to accomplish during your time with us?

I see my time at Strayos as an opportunity to gain direct exposure to how a technology-driven company operates within a complex industrial environment. I hope to learn from a team that works closely with some of the largest industrial companies in the world and gain insight into how AI-driven solutions are developed, scaled, and integrated through strategic partnerships. During my time at Strayos, I hope to contribute to initiatives that support the company’s growth, whether through improving operational efficiency, supporting financing efforts, or helping the team make data-driven decisions that create long-term value.

What are you working on right now?

I’m currently reviewing several inbound term sheets and analyzing key investment provisions, including liquidation preferences, anti-dilution protections, ownership structure, board composition, and investor control rights.

Tell us something personal about you!

I enjoy strength training and have spent years working toward new goals in the gym. One milestone I’m proud of is reaching a 345 lb bench press when I was 18.
