2026 Summer Intern Spotlight
Strayos is happy to introduce… Keshava Karthikeyan!
Keshava joins us from Arizona State University where he is studying for his master's in engineering with a focus on robotics and autonomous systems. Keshava has also worked as a researcher at Virginia Tech.
Originally from India, Keshava has traveled far from home, leaving home after college to come to the United States. We are thankful for Keshava coming to St. Louis this summer, and we are glad that he joined our wonderful 2026 Summer Intern class.
We sat down with Keshava and asked him about his interests and why he chose to work with Strayos.
What inspired you to study what you are studying?
My interest in robotics naturally led me to computer vision, I wanted to understand how machines perceive and make sense of the physical world around them.
What interested you about Strayos? Why did you apply?
Strayos stood out because it's using computer vision and AI to modernize the mining industry that hasn't seen much of this innovation yet. I wanted to be part of building something with real-world, physical impact, and to grow with the company as it does.
What do you want to do in the future?
Work at Strayos as an AI Engineer.
How do you see your time at Strayos contributing to your plans? What do you hope to accomplish during your time with us?
My time at Strayos is giving me hands-on experience taking computer vision and SLAM systems from research ideas to working solutions in the field like building a handheld 3D mapping device and improving safety-critical detection models for mine sites. I hope to ship real, usable contributions to these projects and come away with a much deeper understanding of building CV systems for demanding industrial environments.

Handheld mapping device.
