Why did you choose mining engineering?
I grew up in a mining community and was curious to know what mining is about. Through my education, I have realized mining plays a vital role in our everyday life by providing the raw materials needed to produce things like cars, phones, air conditioning systems in our homes etc. as well as generating wealth for the people and the nation and I want to be a part of this essential team.
What interested you about Strayos? Why did you apply?
I applied to Strayos because I am interested in the software-based operation of Strayos, precisely the use of Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine learning (ML) which have become an integral part of our society in handling big data and solving problems especially in the extractive industry. I am delighted to be a member of the team to contribute my knowledge and skills as I seek an ideal platform for growth and career development.
How do you see your time at Strayos contributing to your plans? What do you hope to accomplish during your time with us?
My time at Strayos is challenging me to do better and has given me the platform to apply AI to solving problems in mining. I hope to successfully execute the projects assigned to me and improve on my machine learning skills as I work with my mentors.
What are you working on right now?
I am working on creating a machine learning model to predict slope failure using drone images.
